"THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD CONSCIENCE"
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ(1 Peter 3:16).
William Booth fought hard to maintain a good conscience(Acts 24:16). We, too, need to fight hard before the good conscience is wrecked.
When a person's conscience is destroyed, it often leads to moral corruption as well as a spiritual ruin. Therefore, the apostle Paul advised us to have a good conscience, that is, a conscience regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and faith, which is the truth, in order to prevent the destruction of faith that comes from abandoning conscience. A good conscience helps Christians navigate safely. If the conscience is destroyed, it affects the faith.
Here Paul leads to ruin by abandoning his conscience. Warned. The Greek word for to throw away(ἀπωθέομαι) means that they have voluntarily refused or rejected. So, the Bible stated that the Saints should pray for their leaders to do all things morally good(καλῶς) (Hebrews 13:18).
Have a good conscience. 'Good conscience' is not only morally or spiritually recognizing God, but also self-awareness before God, and it is related to the freedom and boldness that arises from living purely before God(Acts 24:16, 1 Tim. 1:19). A good conscience is set by the Word of God. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you(Psalm 119:11).
Good(ἀγαθός) is used as an adjective and real noun and expresses the excellence or importance of an object or person. As an adjective, this word means' excellent, excellent, good, good, excellent. As a noun, this word means excellence in character, quality of things, or the good of material or spiritual things. And it also means moral and spiritual integrity in Greek philosophy, and salvation in Hellenism and the Bible. So this word is used to describe people, things, conditions, states, qualities, emotions, actions, and times.
Conscience(συνείδησις) meaning good or bad. In general, a good conscience enjoys peace, whereas a bad conscience afflicts the owner of the conscience without reason, causing him to feel pain. The conscience has two selves in one human being. In other words, humans look at the same things from different angles and are under the control of two opposing forces, one for order and one for the disorder. Conflict begins with a knowledge of the disorder of the past, and conscience is, therefore, more closely related to the appraisal of the past than to prepare for the future.
A good conscience is cleansed by the blood of Christ(Hebrews 9:14). How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God(Colossians 3:15). cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! (Hebrews 9:14) This is an amazing promise! Christ cleansing our consciences from acts that lead to death!
When these conflicts are ontological, knowledge plays a large role in self-reflection, whereas when the conflict is ethical, moral conscience plays a large role in the self-reflection, and these two factors are closely related historically and practically.
This good conscience is the most necessary condition for Christians to proclaim the gospel(John 16:8). No matter how reasonable the answer and persuasion are, if your conscience is not good, you will not be able to properly proclaim the Gospel to save lost souls.
Those who revile your good works in Christ will be ashamed of their slander. Prosperity means ἐπηρεάζω, which means slandering toward those who have a good conscience through ‘spiritual abuse.’
We must remember that when the soldiers of Christ show good conscience and clean deeds, the lies of those who insulted and persecuted him will be revealed, and on the contrary, they will be more ashamed(John 16:8). So, while living in this world, like William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, we must fight hard with ourselves to maintain a good conscience. How to Get and Keep a Good Conscience. I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man(Acts 24:16, Psalms 119:11). We are an army that saves souls.
